Kia
Ora Tatou, Greetings to our parents and caregivers
WELCOME!
A warm welcome to the new school year. We hope you have had a great holiday, and we
are hoping for some fine weather. A special welcome to our new families, and children who have come
to us from other schools. We do
hope you enjoy your time here at
SWIMMING: Our
swimming programme is now under way for the first group of classes (Rooms 9 & 2, 12
& 3, 13 & 4, 14, 15 & 1).
Please make sure that children have their swimming gear EVERY SWIMMING
DAY. This is an official school
programme, part of the New Zealand Curriculum, and we all have a duty to make
sure that children are confident, capable and safe in the water.
FAMILY BARBECUE – EVENING:
We are planning another get-together at school for all families in Week
3 (Wednesday 15 February). Please put
aside this time (5.45 – 7.15pm). More information next week.
OUR HOME AND SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP: An important reminder: At
Ø To
be told how your child is progressing
Ø To
be involved in their learning
Ø To
be heard when you have a question or concern
We also believe the school can expect:
Ø that
you will work with us in a spirit of partnership
Ø that
you will support us in our work
Ø that the learning needs,
well-being and safety of every child is the focus of our work together.
GIVE ME FIVE!: DOING YOUR BIT FOR YOUR CHILD’S SCHOOL: Please play your part in your child’s
schooling. Your child will benefit from
your involvement in school activities.
It would be great if every parent could do five of the following during the school year:
Ø Helping out with PTA Activities (Sausage
Sizzles, Fund-raising)
Ø Help out with a class activity (Camp, Sports
Day, Class Trip…)
Ø Pay the School Donation (can be claimed
as a donation at tax return time)
Ø Join the PTA (Meetings on first Monday
of most months – see newsletters)
Ø Offer to help when the school needs it
Ø Come along to class and school events

there interested in coaching a school touch team? Games are played on Thursdays
